Sidra Tree Foundation's mission is to preserve and enhance vision by partnering with key stakeholders to achieve equity in global eye care. This can only be achieved in partnership with eye care professionals, non-governmental organizations and other stakeholders dedicated to alleviating the burden of blindness globally. Grants are given with the goal of supporting enhanced screening and surgical skills transfer from highly trained providers to local peers in developing health care systems. We also support trainees to gain experience in global ophthalmology as well as researchers who focus on ophthalmic diseases so that we better understand disease burden and how to address unmet needs. The selection process for giving grants is carried out by the board of directors with advice given by select advisors who identify needs in the global eye care community. We will continue to evolve and support causes that create real impact on the ground..
